Announcement: on Easter Monday we will be closed. We are very sorry for the inconvenience. Team Secure Logistics

Privacy-proof use of biometrics is a matter of course for Secure Logistics. When we develop new applications, we always apply one basic principle: Privacy-by-mindset. The nomination for our Facial Recognition on Card solution in the Digital Invoicing category for the annual Computable awards proves that this is unique.

Voting
We are very proud of this nomination. After the assessment of the professional jury, the assessment of the public also counts. This counts for 50%. Please vote via this link: Computable Awards

Weighting
A group of in total 24 Computable experts has digitally assessed the 26 nominations in the category Digital Innovation. Their assessment formed the basis for the weighting by the main jury of the Computable Awards 2022 in order to determine the ten nominees. The nominations were tested on complexity/risk, added value, originality/innovative power and the role of the supplier. The main jury assigned weightings of 18, 32, 38 and 12 (100 total) respectively to these four components, resulting in a total score of 8.04.

Facial Recognition on Card
Biometrics for access to locations, systems or devices has become commonplace, provided the applicable laws and regulations are complied with. However, privacy is always a challenge: where do you store privacy-sensitive data and how do you prevent its misuse? Secure Logistics has developed an application for this: Facial Recognition On Card. No storage of photos in a central database, but only a biometric template on the chip of a smart card. The user always has a say in where he or she shares this data. Thanks to the one-to-one comparison instead of the one-to-many comparison, the process is fast, secure and privacy-friendly.

Moreover, this application of facial authentication has been made suitable for demanding outdoor environments. These include port areas with storms, salty rain, pollutants and different nationalities. All scenarios have been optimised through extensive testing. Truck drivers can remain seated in the cabin, mouth caps are no problem, nor are safety helmets and goggles. The security aspects are covered by the depth detection, so that a photo will not be accepted. Also, only one template is possible, in contrast to, for example, biometrics of a telephone, where several faces can be enrolled.

Partner
We were able to develop this innovation thanks to a partnership with 20Face, the builder of the camera comparison software. They provided us with a software development kit and were open to changing their software. 20face is a Dutch scale-up and spin-off of the University of Twente, specialised in privacy-proof facial recognition software. It uses face recognition algorithms developed by 20face itself, in close cooperation with the University of Twente.
